Vegetables

Vegetables- After making Kids learn about Shapes and My House, I want to let them know about some fruits and vegetables, which they eat everyday. Some Kids love vegetables, and some hate to eat them. Here I have tried to explain the benefits of these vegetables to our body. When they get to learn the benefits, it becomes easier for mothers to make them eat vegetables. One of the problem, which kids normally face who do not eat veggies, is a constipation problem. Make your child understand each and every vegetable, by showing them in your refrigerator or in the market, and also tell the benefit, and do make them understand their constipation problem will be solved, if they will take proper intake of vegetables per day. Now, comes the definition of Vegetable.

A vegetable is said to be an edible plant or the part of a plant and normally excludes seeds and most sweet fruit. This typically means the leaf, stem, or root of a plant.

Some vegetables can be consumed raw, some may be eaten cooked, and some must be cooked in order to be edible. Vegetables are most often cooked in salty or sourly dishes. Few vegetables can also be used in desserts and some is used in sweet dishes.

Vegetables are classified in 3 categories -
  1. Root
  2. Stem
  3. Leafy
  4. Flower

1. Root -  Root is the part of plant, which is inside the ground. They are generally stored in body, in form of Carbohydrate. Some of the root vegetables are Carrot, Radish.

Shapes

Everything we see, inside the house, outside the house, in the school, in the playground or in the market, where ever we see, everything has a Shape. It can be round, oval, rectangle , square, triangle, hexagon, octagon, etc. These are the things which is around us.

The shape of an object is determined by its external boundary. Simple shapes can be described by basic geometry objects such as a set of two or more points, a line, a curve, a plane, a plane figure (e.g. square or circle), or a solid figure (e.g. cube or sphere). Most shapes occurring in the physical world are complex, or say most shapes are mixture of different shapes. It is difficult for the young ones to understand the complex shapes, but we can definitely teach them the simple shapes, like a  square, a rectangle, a circle, etc.

The most Common shapes which kids can understand are-
  1. Square
  2. Rectangle
  3. Circle
  4. Triangle
Square - Square is the shape having same sides. It has 4 corners and 4 sides. Sometimes, it is also called a rectangle. The square things which we normally see at home are breads, Square crackers, Handkerchief, Square Coffee table. We can help the kids to learn by showing them square stuffs around the house. These are the items which they are watching everyday at home, and hence they will learn fast.

Rectangle - A rectangle is a shape with parallel and equal opposite sides. It has 4 corners and 4 sides. Rectangle is also called as square, when all the 4 sides are equal in size. Most frequently seen items of rectangle shape at home are books, notebooks, television, etc. Ask your child to search for his/her toys which are in rectangular shape.

Circle- A circle is a simple closed curve which divides the plane into two regions: an interior and an exterior. A circle can be defined as the curve traced out by a point that moves so that its distance from a given point is constant. The distance between any of the points and the center is called the radius. A Circle has no sides and corners. Circle can also be explained to a child by explaining the round stuffs to kids which are available at home, for example a ball, a cookie, mother's bindi, roti made by mom, etc.

My House

My House -

All our little ones has a concept of My house. And you might not have noticed, but when some guest arrives at your place, very proudly (when they get a chance to speak) tell it to every one, that this is MY HOUSE. When your little one is talking to his/her friend, and you get a chance to listen to their cute conversation, then you might notice them talking about 'MY HOUSE', at least one time in the whole conversation.

When your baby is small, you and his/her house is their whole universe. They are growing up their, and they know this is the safest place for them on this earth. You may not have realized it, but the toddlers before going to School, believe that their house is the only place they have to be in future.

But, after the School starts, some changes come in their thoughts, and they realize there is one more place other than their house, where they need to go. Some kids do take time to adjust in School, but some are very happy to be in School, as their they get friends to play with. Soon, our Kids starts realizing their are few more people (teachers) other than parents, who can take care of them. When the School comes to end, kids whether they are young or old, wants to go to their house. This is the Place where they are loved for no apparent reason. Even the furnitures, doors, windows, other stuffs kept in house, they start loving all of them. Have you ever noticed your toddler talking to sofa or table or Chair. Yes, they do talk because they think there are their friends.

Now, We will try to make things easy for our little ones. Lets make them learn about every room in the house. And get them remember about these parts of the house by letting them and practice these pages.
